Course Details
Join us for a day of plant-based Japanese cooking and learn how to create dishes that are full of umami - the irresistible savoury sensation that is guaranteed to leave you wanting more.
On this course we will teach you how to perfect cooking sushi rice and practice rolling sushi. You'll also learn all about Japanese ingredients such as miso, soya sauce, shiitake mushrooms and rice vinegar.
Other dishes you may be making on this course include recipes such as:
- Gyoza Dumplings – filled with spinach, mushrooms and water chestnuts
- Miso Soup – with tofu, seaweed and spring onions
- Goma Ae – green vegetables with a traditional Japanese sesame sauce
- Okonomiyaki
- Katsu Curry – with aubergine, sweet potato and squash and katsu curry sauce
- Japanese Pickles
The course ends with a sit down meal around our dining table to enjoy the food made. Please bring a plastic container if you wish to take some of your food home with you. You will leave with a full recipe pack so you can recreate the dishes at home as well as a glossary of Japanese ingredients and where to source them.
