Spiced Plums
One of our favourite "fast and delicious" recipes - spiced plums are a lovely dessert, especially in autumm. Try them over vanilla ice cream or thick yoghurt.
Spiced Plums
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 500g plums (Victorias, Blaisdons)
- 150ml water
- 4 tbsps caster sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick, broken in two
- 2 star anise
Method:
- Either de-stone the plums first or cook with stones (easier), just be careful of your teeth!
- The amount of sugar you add will depend on the ripeness and sweetness of the plums, for tart plums double the sugar.
- Place the plums in a saucepan with the water, sugar and spices. Simmer gently, until the plums are soft. You want to end up with a lovely thick syrupy sauce surrounding the plums.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and star anise before serving.
- Serve warm or cold.
