Our Kitchen Skills Classes are a way to master a new skill or perfect one that needs a little help! The best way to improve you cookery and your diet is to improve your basic skills. If you can chop quickly and safely dishes take far less time to prepare and are less daunting. Successful pastry and bread making skills are essential if you want to cook your own rather than relying on shop bought goods. Even with the best cookery book nothing can compare to learning hands on and with our classes you will have an experienced chef to show you the tips and tricks of the trade.
There are 5 Kitchen Skills Classes to choose from: Knife Skills, Sauces and Stocks, Pastry Making, Cooking with Grains and bread Making. Each class costs £65 and you can book them separately. If you book all five classes you will receive a 20% discount.

We will focus on yeasted breads for this class and explain how and why the dough rises and how to knead and shape your bread. Learn how to make classic Italian dough which can be used for focaccia, calzone or pizza and make a hearty multi seeded bread to take home.

The classes include a delicious meal which you will have made and a glass of organic wine or local juice. You will receive a pack of recipes and tips at the end of the class. The classes are relaxed and enjoyable with lots of hands on cookery and help from our experienced Demuths chefs.
About the tutor
Helen has come from being Head Chef at Demuths, a post she filled for 5 years, in which time Demuths won Best Restaurant in Bath award 2007 and Vegan Restaurant of the Year 2009. She is a trained chef and has trained in classical French cooking, with a passion for French patisserie, also an expert in knife skills and chefs tips. She enjoys the creativity of vegetarian and vegan cooking, lifting vegetables to the central position, they deserve in our diets.
